Rain, Rain, Go Away

It’s that time of year out where we live, when the sky gets dark around 5 and thunderstorms are frequent. This morning Scout and I headed outside for our morning walk only to be in the middle of a flash, torrential downpour five minutes later. Thankfully for  me, Scout isn’t a fan of the rain, so she dashed without hesitation back to the stairs and gladly went back inside.

The upside to all the rain is that we desperately need it. The downside is that it makes it hard to exercise Scout, and after being in her crate all day, she’s itching to stretch her legs by evening. We were lucky to get in a nice 30 minute walk last night in between soakings, so hopefully tonight will afford us the same luxury.

Despite the walk, Scout hasn’t quite gotten her sleep cycle back on Central time. We spent Thanksgiving in Eastern time, and it’s thrown her off. She’s exhausted by 8 and sound asleep by 9, and awake at 4. Ouch. She has, however, gotten right back into the old routine, which we were worried she’d lose while we were away. She turned 15 weeks  old yesterday, and each day we can see how intelligent she is. She walks like a pro now probably 85 percent of the time, and is starting to grasp the house rules (try keeping a puppy off the sofa when the cat gets full reign. What a job!). I’m looking forward to enrolling her in puppy kindergarten classes in January. Who knows…by then she could speak the alphabet!

Gus loathes the rain! He’ll hardly step outside when it’s even just misting. Just stumbled onto your blog…we soooo wish we would’ve blogged when we first got Gus. What a fantastic way to chronicle his puppy years!

That’s what we’re hoping! “According to Gus”–love it!
