Apparently 9 p.m. CST is right around when Scout started feeling better. She quite suddenly had a good bit more energy, which she was dying to release through a good game of fetch. This whole “calm puppy” deal is going to be a challenge!
This is her leg where they shaved for the IV. Scout’s been licking this spot more than her stomach.
This is called Lazy Chew. Meaning, Mom or Dad holds the Nylabone, and Scout stands there and chews at her convenience. We indulged her so that B could take some photos (minus the actual surgical site!). You can see how much fur she had shaved off her stomach.
All in all, Scout’s first day back home went well. We must have held her a lot when she was little, because Scout is a pro at being carried up and down the stairs. (Remember, she was afraid of them when she was little, so we had to carry her up and down until she grew enough to be able to climb them.) This has made B’s life much easier, considering I can’t easily pick Scout up now. Now about that puppy energy…
