The Girls Get a Christmas After All

If you’re following along, you know that the week before Christmas, both Zoey and Scout were full of mischievous antics. Still, Santa took pity on them and showered them with Christmastime love anyway.

For her part, Scout received a smorgasbord of stuffed wonders to, well, destuff.

In this photo, you can see a penguin, reindeer, and gingerbread man all poking their heads out of our stockings. At the time, we’d only done shopping for Scout, so we filled up the stockings with her goodies solely as a way to keep her from finding the toys and rawhides and eating them before Christmas arrived! Scout was then further showered with love at B’s mom and dad’s home, where she received a plethora of rawhide goods and we splurged on another stuffed toy for her, which she has carried around the house ever since. (Thank PetSmart for the sales, Scout.)

Zoey received a bunch of these particular soft balls that she loves–the only toys she’s liked since she was a kitten–seen in the shot below, taken back in 2009 (pre-Scoutimus), when she randomly gathered up all the balls in the house and put them in an empty box. Just like this.

…Along with some wet food, which she gets on special occasions such as Christmas.

Hope your holidays were as plentiful as the girls’ was!

Aw, glad santa forgave them for their antics. How on earth do you keep Scout from eating Zoey’s toys??

Good question! We keep a baby gate cordoning off our guest room. Inside is Zoey’s food and all her toys. The baby gate keeps Scout from getting to Zoey’s food. Zoey will leave her toys around the house, and Scout actually brings them to us! She seems to know that they’re not hers :)
